October, 2007
Um...sorry...
I just looked at the calendar, and the month of October is now almost half way done...and I don't have any new postings. Until now!
I hesitate to say this, but the month so far has been rather "ho hum." Well, if you consider living 6000 miles from where you call "home" to be "ho hum." We are certainly settling into a normal routine of life here. I'm busy with work. Devin is busy trying to take care of the two boys in the family. David is busy keeping us busy. We've got a big trip to Bali planned for our upcoming school vacation, so that'll be great. I'll post some pictures when we get back. Should be fun!
We must be turning into "locals" to some degree, as the Baht Bus drivers are starting to recognize us at the stores. It is happening more and more...we walk out of a store, and the drivers all say hello and know exactly where to take us without having to give directions. And no negotiating in these cases...as they've already started giving us decent prices. (Well, decent prices for us "farang" or foreigners anyway.) They are all incredibly nice to us and love to see David as well. Heck, I haven't driven a car since July 21st. Weird, huh?
At school we just finished the first quarter. Yep, you read that right. We're already 1/4 done with the school year. Woohoo! It's been going great so far, although I still miss my students from Foster. And as I mentioned in a previous post, I'm now coaching the HS girls basketball team. We played another game on Friday, so we're now 2-1 for the season. We have one more round-robin tournament, then we travel to Vietnam for our big "MRISA" tournament. (That's in November.) Oh yeah...I get to travel to Chiang Mai in November on a school trip also. Darn.
I got to go diving on Saturday, 13th October...so here are some pictures for you. It was a great dive.
Hope all is well with all of you.
Well, this has been a "when it rains it pours" kind of month. Most days were quite normal. But we got a one-week vacation. So it's off to Bali! Check out the Bali page here. It was quite a trip!
Otherwise, the month will finish with a flourish, as my school celebrates International Day on October 31st. I'll post pictures when I get time.
